The Chamber of Commerce was hopeful that the traditional Snowball Drop could be modified with additional safety measures, but due to the large jump in positive Covid-19 cases in McPherson County, it was decided that the responsible thing to do is cancel the Snowball Drop. The Kansas Department of Transportation’s Division of Aviation completed a field exercise recently in Rossville to demonstrate the capabilities of drones being used for infrastructure inspections and disaster response. Bridge inspectors, public safety officials, universities and UAS manufacturers worked side-by-side with KDOT team members on this exercise. Marty Dale Koehn, 61, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 5:45 p.m., Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020 unexpectedly, at McPherson Hospital. Marty was born in McPherson, Kansas on April 29, 1959, a son of Mary Lou (Bonjour) Petersen, and Willard Duane Koehn. Marty was born with mental disabilities and he spent his youth in Topeka at the KNI facility where they were able to work with him on his speech, motor skills, and daily living techniques. Sheryl Elaine Miller, 68, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Center, Wichita. She retired from Hospira where she worked for 36 years. She then was a self-checkout hostess at Walmart. Sheryl was born on March 13, 1952, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Marvin James and Gloria June (Bengston) Plooster.
