By Steve Read, Director, McPherson Public Library Most of us live in a world awash in color – from our clothes to our dishes to our phones.  Perhaps this is why, when we look at a black & white photograph, it seems so distant and unreal.  I can’t count the times that I’ve paused while viewing an old photograph and wished that I could time travel, if only briefly.  What would the scene around me really look like if, for example, I could stand on Main Street in McPherson in the 1920’s?  My wish has been granted! McPherson, KS – United Way’s Community Response and Recovery Fund has helped 112 McPherson County families this year during the pandemic. The fund was created in April and has been helping households impacted economically by the pandemic.  Assistance has been available for those who lost a job or work hours due to COVID-19.   United Way has paid a total of 77 utility bills and helped with 55 rent and mortgage payments totaling $51,545.44.
