Obituary: Evelyn Marie Jacobson

Evelyn Marie Jacobson, 82, of Salina, KS and formerly of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 31, 2021, at Kenwood View Health & Rehabilitation Center, Salina.  Evelyn and her husband, Jim, owned “Jakes Place” in Marquette, KS.  She also worked at Walmart in the automotive department and was a bus monitor for the Durham School Services. Police Investigate Stabbing in McPherson

On Friday, January 29, 2021,  at 2:57 p.m., McPherson County Emergency Communications/911 dispatched McPherson Police Officers, EMS, and Fire Rescue to a report of a 28-year-old female with a stab wound at a residence in the 300 block of East Allison Street in McPherson. McPherson EMS transported the 28-year-old female from the residence to McPherson Center for Health in stable condition. An investigation into the incident is ongoing by the McPherson Police Department. A person of interest has been identified and is in custody on an unrelated warrant.

Obituary: Jeffrey Butson

Jeffrey William Butson, 51, of Newton, KS, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 28, 2021, at his home in Newton.  He was a plumber. Jeffrey was born on September 8, 1969, in Houston, TX, the son of Harry and Anita (Pierce) Butson. AVCTL Updates Spectator Policy to Four Per Participant

Beginning January 29, 2021 until the end of the winter activities regular season this school year, a maximum of four spectators per participant will be permitted to attend with appropriate social distancing required. Beginning on the 29th, the school will issue event-specific wristbands  to participants, and the student will give them to the spectators that they would like to attend that event. Kansas Coaches Honored by NFHS, Bordewick National COY

TOPEKA, Kan. — The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) has announced that Washburn Rural’s Kevin Bordewick has been named the National Coaches Association Volleyball Coach of the Year for the 2019-20 school season. Six other coaches have been tabbed as section five award winners. Bordewick is the 37th Kansan all-time to be named a national award winner by the NFHS.
