Governor Laura Kelly Directs Flags be Flown at Half-staff to Honor 3,027 Kansans Who Lost their Lives to COVID-19

TOPEKA –Kansas surpassed 3,000 Kansas deaths due to COVID-19. In honor of the lives lost and the families they left behind, Governor Laura Kelly has directed that flags be lowered to half-staff throughout the state Thursday, January 7, 2021, from sunup to sundown. “It is with great sadness that I am once again ordering flags to be lowered to half-staff in honor of the Kansans who have lost their lives to COVID-19,” Governor Laura Kelly said. “My administration remains committed to fighting further spread of COVID-19, and I know Kansans will do their part to protect their neighbors and loved ones.”

Covid-19 Distribution Order for Kansas

TOPEKA – Governor Laura Kelly today announced her administration’s final COVID-19 distribution order for population groups in Kansas. Obituary: Robert W. “Bob” Wise

Robert W. “Bob” Wise, age 86, passed away Wednesday, January 6, at KU Medical Center, Kansas City. Bob was born April 15, 1934 to Jake and Ruth Wise and raised on a farm in Fernald, Iowa. Bob graduated from high school in 1952 and moved to McPherson to attend McPherson College and play football. He received his bachelor’s degree from McPherson College in 1956, married his college sweetheart, Anita McSpadden, and coached football before moving to Washington, DC for law school. Obituary: Kenyon Lee Madden

Kenyon Lee Madden, 60, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully, surrounded by friends, on Thursday, January 7, 2021, at Victoria Falls in Andover, KS. Kenyon was a 25-year employee of Meadows Hospital in Bloomington, IN where he served in Human Resources, staff development, counseling services, and case management.  He returned to McPherson in 2016 to care for his aging parents and worked for Multi Community Diversified Services.
