Kelly Michelle Brooks, 57, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, surrounded by family at her home in McPherson. Kelly was born on May 6, 1962, in Wellington, KS, the daughter of Michael Fulton and Judy Alice (Jones) Brooks. Survivors include: her father, Dr. Michael Brooks (Berna) of Howell, MI; sisters, Julie Brooks of Ann Arbor, MI and Kim Brooks Patrick (Gordon) of Woodstock, GA; aunt, Merrillyn Kloefkorn of Lakewood, CO; two uncles, Dr. David Brooks (Peggy) of Ann Arbor, MI and Robyn Brooks (June) of Waleska, GA; numerous cousins; and her MCDS family. McPherson County Now in Phase 3 of Reopening

After carefully considering local hospital capacity, new case rates and provider feedback, MCHD recommends McPherson  County transition to Phase 3 reopening plans beginning February 10, 2021. Phase 3 limits gatherings to 45 individuals  when 6-foot distance is not maintained. More information on Phase 3 plans can be found on the McPherson County  website, mcphersoncountyks.us.  COVID-19 Vaccine distribution will require the community to remain flexible. Breaking Ground to Assist Families in Crisis

Many low-income families find it difficult to find a safe, decent, comfortable place to live when faced with challenging circumstances. McPherson Housing Coalition (MHC) has a plan to help these families. This local non-profit agency will be breaking ground in late spring or early summer for Oak Harbor Cottages on the corner of S. Brush Up Mac Accepting Applications from Homeowners

McPherson Housing Coalition will help “Brush Up” single family homes for those who need assistance. MHC has begun taking applications from Homeowners, particularly the elderly, disabled and low-income families who have difficulties with simple tasks such as yard work, hauling off debris and minor home repairs. Applications for Volunteers to assist with the tasks are also being accepted at this time. Last year, Brush Up Mac helped 25 families with yard work, painting, debris removal and minor home repairs.
