Season in Review: Bullpups Soccer

The McPherson Bullpups Boys Soccer team had a great season, finishing 15-3-1. The team was led by stalwart seniors. Drew Schrader, Britton Haigh, Jael Jamie, and Samy Jamie were a potent quartet on the opponent’s side of the field. Rhett Edmondson, Trenton Stecklein, Tyler Hoxie, and Nathan Lloyd formed a formidable backline that held up against most offenses this season. This team got contributions from every level. McPherson Boys Rout Salina Central

The McPherson boys soccer team got off to a great start Tuesday night in a  confidence-building 6-1 win over Salina Central. Senior Drew Schrader scored five goals on the night in a Lionel Messi-like performance. Schrader’s five goals ties a school record for most goals in a single game. Bullpups Boys Soccer faces Salina Central

The McPherson Bullpups Boys soccer team plays the Salina Central Mustangs Tuesday night at 7 at McPherson Stadium. The Bullpups roll into Regionals with a 13-2-1 record and the overall fourth seed; the Mustangs stagger in with a 5-10-1 record and the 13th seed. The McPherson boys were often dominant this season, with a staggering +57 goal differential. The Mustangs, however, had a -27 goal differential. Salina Central only scored 16 goals overall during the season, contrast that with McPherson’s 76 goals scored and 19 goals allowed. Bullpups Boys Soccer Draw against the Panthers at Great Bend

The Bullpups certainly could’ve used a win heading into the playoffs, they could only manage a draw Thursday night at Great Bend as the game ended in a 2-2 stalemate. The vocal crowd at Great Bend will be a dry run for crowds the team is likely to encounter during the postseason.
