Bullpup Wrestlers Win Back-to-Back League Duals

With a successful turnout, the Bullpup wrestlers came away with two AVCTL Division-III wins over Winfield High School, 55-15 and Circle High School, 84-0. All the seniors were honored before the dual and unsurprisingly, the gym was packed with McPherson supporters. McPherson’s first dual was against Winfield. Craig victorious at Hays; Marbut, Skytte take home first in Wichita

Sports Editor  Peter Holland Jr. HAYS—  The McPherson High School boys wrestling competed in the Bob Kuhn Prairie Classic, while the girls and junior varsity team were in the Wichita Heights tournament on Saturday. It was Kourtney Craig’s time to shine for the Bullpup wrestlers as he was only Bullpup to win in his weight class at 182, finishing 3-0, including pinning Charlie Frisch of Kapaun Mt. Bullpup Wrestlers Add Washburn Rural to Thursday’s Dual

It has been announced that the McPherson High School wrestling was scheduled for a league dual with Circle High School on Thursday at 6 p.m. Now the Bullpups added Class 6A team, Topeka-Washburn Rural High School, which is set for 7 p.m at the auxiliary gym immediately after its dual with Circle.   Thursday just got a little more interesting. Player Of The Week: Jonah Clarke

Sports Editor Peter Holland Jr. Today’s player of the week goes to Jonah Clarke of the McPherson High School wrestling after his performance at the Abilene Invitational this past weekend. Clarke, a senior, led the Bullpups by winning all five rounds, which advanced him to the championship round, where we won by fall over Noah Ackerman of Marysville High School. The Bullpups won the Abilene Invitational with a total of 252 points. Clarke recorded 34.5 of those points. Sports Editor Peter Holland Jr. ABILENE— It was a busy weekend for the McPherson High School wrestling as they competed in the Abilene Invitational this past weekend.  The varsity boys, girls and the junior varsity team all won their tournament and left with Abilene with a bunch of first-place finishers. On Saturday, the boys were the top performers with a total of 252 points, beating out Scott City High School (199.5).  A total of nine players finished in the top three. Bullpup Wrestlers Own Augusta In League Dual

Sports Editor Peter Holland Jr AUGUSTA— It was another dominating league win for the McPherson High School boys wrestling team on Thursday. The Bullpups beat Augusta High School, 55-18. McPherson is now 2-0 in the AVCTL Division III league and 10-1 overall. The Bullpups closed the deal by pinning the Orioles five straight times led by their heavyweights of Jonah Clarke (170), Kourtney Craig (182), Landon Frantz (195), Mason Thrash (220) and Jonah Scott (285). Today, the boys will travel to Augusta for a league dual beginning at 6 p.m. The Bullpups are 9-1 on the season after competing in the Colby Eagles Invite, where they finished second behind Dodge City. Today’s player of the week goes to Landon Frantz of the McPherson High School boys wrestling team after a strong performance in the Colby Eagles Invite this past weekend. Frantz went undefeated the entire tournament at 7-0. The senior wrestler took down some of the top wrestlers in the Colby Invitational in his 195-pound weight class, including pinning No. 1 ranked wrestlers in both Class 3A and 5A.
