Veterans Share Memories of Time in Service

Three women shared their stories of service Tuesday evening at the McPherson American Legion Post 24. The presentation was a part of a monthly event held at the Legion known as Veteran’s Story Night, held the third Tuesday of every month. A meal is provided, and each veteran receives two free drinks as well. Sponsors for this month included Terry Hedlund of Hedlund Electric Inc., Susan and Mike McVicker of Sew ‘n’ Sew, Troy Glidden of Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home and Ken and Angela Patton. Female Veterans Speak At American Legion

McPherson Buzz Owner Jennifer Flood  On Tuesday night, the crowd at the McPherson American Legion gathered to hear from two female Vietnam veterans, Kathy Nicholson and Sheryl White. This was the first all-female Veterans Story Night. The only other female to speak at the Legion was Teri Hansen in May of 2019.  Per usual, Dan Hervey greeted the crowd before the two women took the spotlight to share their experiences. Veterans Day Activities Announced

Chairman of the McPherson Area Veterans Committee Dan Hervey, released details for Veterans Day activities to be held in McPherson on Nov. 11. The day will begin with a free breakfast sponsored by Kindred Hospice for veterans and guest at the Legion Hall from 8 to 10 a.m. Reservations should be called in to 620-245-0891. The American Legion will have a special museum display of various military items from the collection of Dennis Brown.
