McPherson Police Respond to Domestic Disturbance, Arrest Made

At 7:58 p.m. on Jan. 30, McPherson Police Department officers and McPherson Emergency Medical Services responded to a residence in regards to a caller in danger. “Officers were dispatched to an ongoing physical disturbance at a residence in the 1100 Block of Lyndon Rd. in McPherson. Officers’ Investigation revealed a 37-year-old female and a 16-year-old male had been battered by a 36-year-old male,” McPherson Police Department Administrative Captain/Public Information Officer Mark Brinck said. “Officers arrested the 36-year-old male for Domestic Battery, and then transported him to the McPherson County Jail. Winter Weather Causes Multiple Slide-Offs

The McPherson area saw a little winter weather yesterday which delayed area schools and businesses. In addition, McPherson County emergency personnel responded to multiple vehicle slide-offs. According to the McPherson County Communications Public Information log, 11 calls were received by dispatch in regards to vehicle slide-off incidents. The Kansas Highway Patrol released a statement on social media around 7 a.m. yesterday stating that the majority of calls for trooper assistance were coming from Ellsworth, McPherson, and Geary Counties.

Crash Closes Traffic on US 81

A vehicle wreck involving an SUV and a truck carrying anhydrous ammonia closed down southbound traffic on U.S. Highway 81 and Avenue A for approximately 20 minutes this afternoon around 1:30 p.m. Traffic is being rerouted at the Kansas Avenue and Highway 81 intersection. McPherson Police, McPherson Fire Department and McPherson Emergency Services personnel responded to the scene. No ammonia is known to be leaking in the area. Injuries are unknown at this time.
