Bullpup Swimmers take second in Wichita Heights

Sports Editor Peter Holland Jr. WICHITA— The McPherson High School boys swimming team was tested this past weekend in the Wichita Heights Invitational and received a second-place finish out of 23 teams. The Bullpups had 238 points, only falling behind to Wichita East High School, with 245 points. MIT Championship Preview

Sports Editor Peter Holland Jr. The championship round is set in the 56th annual McPherson Invitational. By the end of the tournament, a team will be crowned as MIT Champs. Top-seed Bishop Carroll will face Lawrence Free State in the finals. Derby and Blue Valley will battle for third, McPherson High School will face Junction City High School for fifth and Topeka-Seaman and Wichita North will battle for seventh. No. 7 Topeka-Seaman vs. No. 8 Wichita North 1:30 p.m. It’s not easy to be a winless team, and one will leave the tournament with their first win of the year.

Bullpup Wrestlers Place Sixth In TOC

Sports Editor Peter Holland Jr. NEWTON— The McPherson High School wrestling team may not have a first-place winner individually, but out of 33 teams, the Bullpups finished sixth in the Tournament of Champions in Newton over the weekend. Finishing ahead McPherson was Goddard High School, a Class 5A Champion last season, was the top school in the TOC with 213 1/2 points.  Blue Valley Southwest High School finished second with 190, Maize High School had 183 1/2 and both Olathe South High School beat Washburn Rural High School had 159, but Olathe South was ahead by a half.
