By Sports Editor Peter Holland Jr. The McPherson Middle School boys basketball team competed at Fort Riley on Monday. The eighth-graders completed their season with back-to-back wins. The A team won 75-11 and the B team, 40-27. The Seventh-graders were also victorious with the A team beating Fort Riley 39-7 and the B team 42-14. Player Of The Week: Karter Alvord

Sports Editor Peter Holland Jr. As the McPherson Middle School girls basketball team completed another successful season, our player of the week goes to Karter Alvord, presented by the National Compliance Group. Alvord has been the top scorer for the A-team all season, averaging 13.3 points a game. Last Thursday,  Alvord dropped 19 points in McPherson’s 38-9 win over Hutchison. Most of her points came from her free throws as she shot  11 for 11 at the line.  The A-Team ended their season with a 12-1 record, winning the Pioneer League championship. Quincy Williams The McPherson Middle School basketball teams took on Hutchinson last night. The eighth grade boys A team beat Hutch 52-35, the B team lost 38-12. The eighth-grade girls A team beat Hutch 38-9, while the B team lost a close one 23-21. The seventh-grade boys A team lost to Hutchinson 51-40. The B team also lost 38-17. Physical Altercation At McPherson Middle School Basketball Game

According to a source close to the McPherson Middle School, a physical altercation transpired during a Middle School boys basketball game on Thursday evening. During halftime,  Jay Crawford, head coach of the eighth grade A-team was confronted by a family member of a player. There was physical contact between the two. Both were separated by multiple people. No charges have been filed, and no one was escorted from the venue.  The game continued afterward without any incident.   Sports Editor Peter Holland Jr. When Madi Moors is wide open, chances are, it’s going in.  In last Thursday’s win over Salina South Middle School, Moors led the eighth-grade A-team of the McPherson Middle School girls basketball team with 15 points, a season-high, for the eighth-grader. Today she is our Player of the Week, presented by the National Compliance Group. Moors was the A-team’s hot shooter as she made four of McPherson’s six three-pointers over Salina South. Sports Writer Quincy Williams The McPherson Middle school’s four basketball teams nearly completed a full sweep of Newton on Thursday night. The lone loss came in the 8B boy’s team game, and even in that loss, they held the lead going into the fourth. Overall, all four teams look to be in great shape going into Christmas Break. The 8A girl’s team beat Newton 43-25, improving their record to 9-1. Their only loss came to a non-league opponent, Maize South. Karter Alvord and Alex Romero led the charge.
