A Florida man, Brent George, aged 61, was arrested at Disney World’s Belle Vue Lounge in the Boardwalk Inn after a dispute turned violent. The incident occurred on January 25, 2024, as reported by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. George, who was intoxicated at the time, allegedly mocked a woman with Down syndrome, leading to a confrontation.

According to Fox News, the arrest affidavit reveals that George was charged with four counts of battery following an incident that took place around 9:00 p.m. When the police arrived, they found George with facial injuries, which he attributed to being hit with a glass cup. George informed the officers that he had consumed three shots of bourbon and beer prior to the altercation. The situation escalated when George, who was accompanied by his wife and two friends at the bar, started mocking a family’s daughter who has Down syndrome and uses a wheelchair.
A heated confrontation unfolded when the girl’s mother confronted George, who allegedly responded by shoving her and slapping a guest who tried to intervene. The situation escalated further when the husband of the slapped woman got involved, resulting in George being punched in the head. Even though George claimed to have no recollection of the events due to his intoxication and insisted he was simply having a “good time” before the altercation, witnesses provided conflicting testimonies, refuting his version of events.

A witness even claimed to have heard threats directed at George, although the police did not find any proof of a glass cup being involved in the altercation, as initially suspected. Shortly after the incident, a bystander stepped in and helped George leave the area. Once George received medical attention for his injuries, he was taken to the Orange County Jail. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges of battery and his court hearing, originally set for March 13, was canceled, resulting in the case being left pending for further legal action.
Social media users also chimed in on the matter, expressing their belief that alcohol should not serve as a justification for mocking someone.
