Officials say that two women have been arrested after their unsuccessful attempts to smuggle contraband into the DeKalb County Jail.

On March 30, deputies apprehended Latrenia Renee Reives, a 21-year-old resident of Decatur, on charges of criminal trespass and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, both of which are misdemeanors.

Reives was apprehended at approximately midnight on the 30th of March following reports that she had driven a vehicle up to the jail premises. It was later discovered that a child, who was a passenger in her vehicle, exited the car and affixed a bag to a rope that was hanging from an inmate’s cell window.

The vehicle was stopped by deputies, who then retrieved the bag and its contents into the jail. Upon searching and impounding the vehicle, they discovered 12 clear bags containing a brown substance.

A relative took custody of the child, while Reives was arrested without any trouble and later released on bond.
