Kansas City police officer wounded in shooting during routine traffic stop

A police officer from Kansas City, Missouri is currently hospitalized after sustaining a gunshot wound during a routine traffic stop.

According to police, the officer initiated a traffic stop in the vicinity of 46th Terrace and South Benton to investigate possible impairment on the driver’s part.

More police officers arrived at the scene to provide assistance.

According to the police, the officers were in the midst of arresting the man when he managed to grab a gun and shoot one of the officers.

The man was successfully apprehended by additional officers, who were able to regain control of the firearm.

The officer was transported to the hospital and it is believed that their injuries are not life-threatening.

The man involved in the incident was fortunate enough to escape unharmed, as reported by the police. It is worth noting that none of the officers resorted to using their firearms during the encounter.

The man is still held in custody.

Detectives are currently in the process of investigating the events that transpired.
