A Newton County teenager is currently in critical condition at a hospital in Florida after she suffered a fall from a golf cart during her spring break vacation.
According to Channel 2’s Veronica Griffin, the family has revealed that 16-year-old Haydin Young experienced a severe brain bleed.
Renee Smith, the grandmother of the teenager, spoke to Channel 2 Action News on Thursday for WSB Tonight at 11 p.m. from the Florida hospital where the teen is currently on life support.
“I couldn’t hold back my tears. She is such a stunning little girl. Witnessing her in that state was truly heartbreaking,” Smith expressed with deep emotion. “It shattered my heart into pieces.”
According to Smith, the teenager tumbled off the rear of a golf cart that was moving at a speed of approximately 20 to 25 mph. Although she sustained a blow to her head, she appeared to be unharmed and was able to walk away without any visible issues.
However, the following day brought about a significant shift.
According to Smith, he received a phone call from his boyfriend’s mother on Saturday night, expressing concern about her strange behavior. She mentioned that she was speaking and breathing differently, and also noticed swelling on the side of her face. It was only then that they discovered a small bruise behind her ear.
