According to the commander of Ukraine’s armed forces, the situation for the country’s troops on the eastern front has experienced a significant deterioration in recent days.
In a recent Telegram post on Saturday, Oleksandr Syrsky highlighted the challenges faced by the Kyiv forces as they confront a scarcity of ammunition and await additional military assistance from the West. Currently, a package from the U.S. is being delayed in Congress, further exacerbating the situation.
Since Vladimir Putin’s re-election, there has been a notable increase in Russian troop activity in the Donetsk region. These troops have been carrying out offensives in the Lyman and Bakhmut directions, utilizing assault groups and armored vehicles. It is widely believed that Putin’s re-election was fraudulent.
According to his statement, Russian forces are currently attempting to penetrate Ukrainian defenses near the city of Pokrovsk. They are utilizing a combination of tanks and infantry fighting vehicles, taking advantage of the favorable warm and dry weather conditions that allow the vehicles to move unhindered.

According to the speaker, gaining the upper hand in terms of technology over the adversary using advanced weaponry “will provide us with the chance to overcome a larger opponent and establish favorable circumstances for taking control of the strategic advantage.”
Ukraine officials, along with its allies and analysts, have expressed concern over the absence of U.S. aid, highlighting its impact on the battlefield. President Volodymyr Zelensky himself warned that without Congress approving additional aid, his country could potentially lose the war. Unfortunately, a bill that includes $60 billion in aid for Ukraine has been stalled in Congress for several months.
“The grim truth is that an increasing number of Ukrainians are losing their lives every day while the Ukraine aid package remains stuck in Congress,” emphasized Wayne Jordash, the managing partner of Global Rights Compliance. According to the Institute for the Study of War think tank, positional fighting in the nearby area of Chasiv Yar persisted on Friday. However, there have been no confirmed updates regarding changes to the frontline.
During the night, enemy assault groups infiltrated the northern outskirts of the town, which was currently under the control of Ukrainian forces, according to a statement by the Ukrainian Defense Ministry on Telegram. The post further mentioned that the enemy’s attacks are relentless and an ongoing battle is taking place.
