On Saturday afternoon in Kansas City, Missouri, a pregnant woman was hit by a vehicle while crossing the street.
Police responded to a call at the intersection of Independence Avenue and Garfield around 4:30 p.m.
As she stepped off the KCATA bus, the woman made her way across Independence Avenue, going from the south side to the north side.
As she walked down the street, just west of Garfield, a silver Ford Focus suddenly collided with her. The car, traveling westbound on Independence, struck her mid-block.
The woman suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment, according to the police.
Fortunately, the driver of the Ford escaped unharmed in the accident.
