Seth Meyers took a playful jab at Donald Trump Jr. following his request for assistance in safeguarding his father’s assets.
In a recent fundraising email, Donald Trump Jr. raised concerns about New York Attorney General Letitia James attempting to seize Trump Tower. The email claimed that James was “seizing my boyhood home,” according to late show host, Seth Meyers.
“It’s not a shack on the banks of the Mississippi,” Meyers quipped, dismissing the notion of a humble boyhood home.
“It feels strange to refer to a place as your childhood home when there’s a restaurant in the lobby,” he remarked.
In an email sent on Wednesday, the message emphasized the attempt made by the Attorney General in New York to seize Trump’s childhood home. It stated that she desired to gain control of Trump Tower, which is recognized as one of the most iconic buildings in American history.
Donald Trump was at risk of having his assets seized by the state if he didn’t post a bond of $464 million by March 25. However, on the day it was due, an appeals court stepped in and reduced the amount to $175 million. They also gave him an additional 10 days to meet the new deadline. Trump has since posted the lower bond amount.
If James had not met the deadline, he could have initiated the process of seizing his assets. This could have included his Trump Tower skyscraper on Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue, as a means to collect the multimillion dollar judgment in the civil fraud case.
