Angela Rayner faced a protest on Wednesday where she was accused of being a “tax dodger.” The incident was captured in a photo taken by Jacob King/PA Wire and published by the Press Association.
The recent “tax dodger” protest that supposedly emerged from grassroots support to target Labour Deputy Leader, Angela Rayner, has been revealed to be organized and carried out by Conservative Party politicians. Byline Times uncovered that a Tory councillor was involved in the group.
Rayner has been consistently accused of not paying the capital gains tax on the sale of a council house in 2015, a claim she has vehemently denied.
According to a report from the Daily Express on Wednesday, Rayner had to discreetly leave the Tomahawk bar to avoid a group of activists in North Yorkshire. The activists were standing outside the bar with a banner. This incident was also covered by the Daily Mail and GB News.
Adam Bienkov, the editor of Byline Times, managed to identify John Coulson, a local Conservative Councillor for Yarm, as one of the demonstrators and approached him for comment.
Coulson, speaking to Byline Times, admitted that the protest was organized by local individuals. He clarified that he was approached to participate due to his vocal and active stance on the matter. Coulson explained, “I got involved because I truly believe in what we’re doing.”
