George Dick Hess, 92, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at McPherson Hospital. Dick was an oil producer and retired president of Hess Oil Co., McPherson. Dick was born December 19, 1928, in Blackwell, OK, the son of George Reiser and Evaline (Farrah) Hess.  Dick grew up in the oil fields of McPherson County, working alongside his parents at their country store between Canton and Galva.  As his father gradually shifted his focus from the store to oil production, Dick learned the business that would eventually become his own livelihood. Governor Laura Kelly to Close Capitol Complex, Administration Buildings Tuesday and Wednesday

TOPEKA – Governor Laura Kelly announced the State Office Buildings in the Capitol Complex, which includes Curtis, Landon, and Eisenhower, will be closed starting tomorrow, January 19, and Wednesday, January 20. Virginia was born in rural Falun, Kansas on July 2, 1940, a daughter of Pearl Cecelia (Rupert) and Arthur Rudolph Peterson. Obituary: Kenneth LaMar Martens

Kenneth LaMar Martens, 88, of Inman, KS, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 17, 2021, at Ascension Via Christi – St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita.  He was a farmer and stockman and had lived in the Inman area most of his life. Kenneth was born January 19, 1932, in Inman, KS, the son of George K. and Susie (Loewen) Martens.  He graduated from Clark School, Inman. On May 29, 1955, Kenneth was united in marriage to Matilda “Tillie” Redger in Montezuma, KS.  She died November 16, 1997.  On October 19, 2001, he married Juanita (Penner) Buerge in Ithaca, MI.  She died March 19, 2014.

Dennis was born in McPherson, Kansas on January 18, 1946, a son of Earl Jonathan and Fay June (Crumpacker) Pope.
