Danny John Slechta, 66, of McPherson, KS, passed away at 4:25 p.m., Monday, June 1st, 2020 while in the company of family members, at Tammy Walker Cancer Center, Salina, Ks. Danny was born in Ellsworth, Kansas on January 25, 1954, a son of Evelyn  Marie (Schultz) and Richard John Slechta. Danny attended the Ellsworth Elementary School, Ellsworth, Kansas, McPherson Junior High and graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, Kansas in 1972.  He later attended Hutchinson Community College, Hutchinson, Kansas. He was Baptized in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Ellsworth, Kansas and was Confirmed in the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, McPherson, Kansas.

Tilly H. Peterson, 93, formerly of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 30, 2020, at at nursing care facility in Council Bluffs, IA. Tilly was born October 16, 1926, in Hanau, Germany, the daughter of Friedrich J. and Marie S. (Jung) Wegener. She spent her formative years in Germany until 1948, when she married Emil “Bud” Peterson, Jr. on August 28, 1948, in Hanau, Germany. McPherson County at 29 Reported Covid-19 Cases.

McPherson County Health Department reports 29 total confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in McPherson County, and one is hospitalized at this time. 25 of the total confirmed cases have now met recovery guidelines set forth by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. The newest positive case is a male in his 40s recovering at home and has unknown exposure at this time. No further information will be released about the patient.
