Ruth L. Walker Cooney went to be with the Lord on February 19, 2021, in the presence of family at The Cedars in McPherson, Kansas. Ruthie, as family and friends called her, was born on October 22, 1929, in Ottawa, Kansas to Lloyd and Maude Walker. She had an older brother, C.W., that they called “Bud”. McPherson College’s Automotive Restoration Program Crosses $1M Finish Line Early

McPHERSON, KAN. – McPherson College has announced that it raised $1 million in gifts and pledges to meet the $1 million challenge goal set by Florida philanthropist and automotive enthusiast, Dano Davis. On February 9th, 2021, USD 418 administrators conducted interviews for the Director of Finance position. Of the candidates interviewed, Mr. Jim Johnson stood out as the best candidate for this position. Mr. Johnson has served Kansas schools for 28 years. In 1993, he began his educational career as a fourth grade classroom teacher in Sterling, KS. In addition to his time as a classroom teacher, Mr. Johnson served as a building principal in both the Wichita and Pleasanton school districts and as superintendent in the following districts: Chase/Raymond (2 years); Towanda/Circle (4 years); Remington (5 years); and Pleasanton (5 years).

Obituary: Dr. Walden R. Peterson

Dr. Walden R. Peterson, 89, of Lindsborg, died at the Lindsborg Community Hospital on February 15, 2021.  He practiced general dentistry in Lindsborg for 46 ½ years. Dr. Peterson was born on the family farm near Dresden, Kansas on November 30, 1931, the son of Raynold G.  and Elsa A. (Holmdahl) Peterson. The family moved to Marquette when Walden was 7 years old.  He is a graduate of Marquette High School, North Park Junior College, Chicago, Bethany College class of 1954, and UMKC School of Dentistry, Kansas City in 1958.
